Congratulations and Best Wishes from the Miniota Community to Michael and Tynelle (Barkley) Graham (Miniota Teacher) on the birth of a baby girl "Harper Violet Louise Graham" born on Jan. 14 in Brandon at eight pounds, fifteen ounces, and 22 inches long at 6:48 pm. That was during our first blizzard!

The Miniota Community wishes Lil Horner all the best in her move to The Sherwood Personal Care Home in Virden, on Jan. 25. We will be thinking of you in your new home, Lil.

We all know we are in a deep freeze of cold weather right now but have to remember all the nice days we have had up until now. At least we have some nice warm sun shining into our homes as I, Bev, write today. We have also received some snow lately which the farmers will be glad of the moisture in the spring. Maybe it is making chores with their livestock a little more challenging.

I will end with some humor: "Rubberneck" is what you do to relax your wife. "Primate" means - remove your spouse from in front of the TV.

Evergreen Place By Helen Martens

Hello to everyone. I trust you are all keeping warm and safe. I am writing this report on Jan. 25. There are different holidays and observances on this day:

National Irish Coffee Day kicks off Jan. 25th each year with a strong mug of coffee, with whatever additives you choose, and topped with a layer of whipping cream.

National Opposite Day is always observed on Jan. 25th. It is a fun day of switcher-roos. The aim of the day is to have fun all day long saying exactly the opposite of what you really mean. Kids like this day, also a great day for adults to play along and break out of the winter blues. It may be fun, but I haven't tried it yet!

We have some changes as far as pandemic restrictions go. We can have two designated visitors now. Shopping for groceries has changed somewhat with being allowed to shop whatever is on the shelves, always following the direction the arrows indicate, and keeping your proper distance from one another.

Marlene Balzar was able to visit her daughter Maureen at Oak Lake Beach on the weekend.

Michael Wile's wife, Jennifer, passed away at the Brandon General Hospital on Jan. 22nd. Our deepest condolences go to the grieving families.

The -30's temperatures we are having seem to enter our suites through the walls. Being awake at night we hear loud cracking noises as it cools off more and more. We had no heat in our halls for a day or so, but thankfully that has been corrected. As a result, our halls have been quite empty. Where is everyone?

It is said, good friends are like stars. You don't always see them but they are always there. Stay home! Stay warm! Stay safe!

Quote for the Day: "What a wonderful thought it is that some of the best days of our lives haven't even happened yet.”  -   Anne Frank
