Raymond Moorehead

I’m Ray to a lot of people, running for one of the Virden Town Council election seats. I am retired. My wife Sherry passed away recently. We had two sons and two grandchildren. I enjoyed golfing and curling when I was involved.

I have previous council experience as I was on Town Council in Miniota for 15 years, three of those years as chairperson. Also served on the CDC board with McAuley Municipality. Helped develop the Walking Trail in the Assiniboine Valley north of Miniota.

I was also with the Royal Canadian Legion Miniota Branch No. 66 for 12 years, six of those years as President. On the Miniota Museum board eight years, four of those as President. I also served on the Miniota Community Center board for a number of years, two of those as President.

We moved to Virden in October, 2008 living at Evergreen Place, moved from there to my present home at Princess Lodge in March, 2017.

I am on the executive of Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 8 in Virden, I have been with them since I moved to Virden.

I feel that with my experience and what I have accomplished as an asset, and able to fill the shoes for this position.

Some issues that concern me most is the bridge on 257 coming into Virden is a disgrace to the Provincial Government for not replacing it. The need for government funding for future infrastructure in downtown Virden and to give support to local businesses.
