Sports news? What sports news?

Well how about the WHL Bantam draft?

WHL Bantam Draft

Is there any sports news right now? With leagues sitting idle in all major team sports, the news is thin to say the least. The NHL for example has asked players to self isolate until May 1 in the hope that some sort of season will be able to resume sometime. Current ideas include playing three games a day in a few centralized locations. No fans in the building.

The Western Hockey League cancelled all remaining regular season games after March 11, but one month after the scheduled end of the season, on April 22, the WHL held its Bantam Draft online. Here is some news! Two bantam players familiar to local hockey fans were drafted this time.

Virden native, defenseman Ty Plaisier from the Southwest Cougars AAA Bantam team was selected by the Regina Pats 74th overall in the fourth round.

Another defenseman, Foxx McColl from Elkhorn, spent last season with the AAA Bantam Yellowhead Chiefs. McColl was drafted 212th overall in Round 10 by the Winnipeg Ice.

Congratulations! We all hope we can actually see you playing sooner rather than later.
