Turtle Mountain RCMP make arrests

On April 20, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Turtle Mountain RCMP responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in Rock Lake, in the RM of Argyle.

Suspects entered a garage, stole a vehicle and fled.

While officers were en route, they were advised of another theft at a residence in the same area. Suspects entered a garage and stole an all-terrain vehicle.

Police Dog Services attended and searched the area, but no suspects were located.

That evening, officers were able to obtain a location on the stolen vehicle by utilizing the built-in tracking system from the vehicle stolen from the first residence.

At approximately 9:10 pm, officers located the vehicle travelling east on Highway 2 in the RM of Victoria. Officers initiated a traffic stop, however the vehicle failed to stop and fled the area at a high rate of speed. The officers did not pursue the vehicle for public safety reasons.

On April 21, 2021, at approximately 10:30 pm, officers were able to track the stolen vehicle to a field off of Highway 5, in the RM of Glenboro - South Cypress. Officers, along with Police Dog Services, attended and located five suspects. While officers were attempting to make an arrest, one of the suspects failed to comply with the officer’s commands and Police Service Dog ‘Genie’ was deployed to assist. All five suspects were arrested.

At the scene, officers recovered the stolen vehicle, two stolen all-terrain vehicles and a firearm.

Two 18-year-old males along with a 17-year-old male and a 21-year-old male are facing charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x3 and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.

A 23-year-old male is facing charges of Resisting Arrest, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.

Turtle Mountain RCMP continue to investigate.
