I was raised in Virden, and have spent the majority of my life here, although I did leave for a few years to see the world.
I've been a councillor for the last four years, and one thing I learned is never to make a promise. Despite the very best of intentions, some things are beyond the control of a councillor.
I do pledge, however, to always listen and will try my best to understand your concerns. If I don't have an answer, I will get one for you. Again, I cannot promise you will always like what I say, but I will be honest and available to hear what you say.
My parents, Wayne and Mary Williams, have always believed in community and they instilled in me a belief in doing the best I can for my community. I have tried to teach my two sons the same thing and involved myself in minor hockey, baseball and other kid's activities as they grew up.
I've served on various committees, both as a councillor and in the years prior because I believed in the organization. I work in the insurance industry in a position which gives me flexibility for my council duties.
I like Virden: I am proud of what's been achieved in the past and want to be a part of its future. I know there will be challenges ahead and look forward to meeting them head on. With your assistance, I pledge to do what I can to keep Virden as a place where people want to live and raise their families.
