Virden Minor Hockey Day scrimmage looks like fun

Any way you slice it, hockey, sticks and pucks can be a whole lot of fun. But Virden Minor Hoceky Day probably didn't quite turn out the way organizers had hoped.

It’s a scrimmage for a Virden Minor Hockey team of young players on Saturday, Feb. 1. The puck has been replaced with a tennis ball as their ice time draws to a close.

Any way you slice it, hockey, sticks and pucks can be a whole lot of fun. But Virden Minor Hoceky Day probably didn't quite turn out the way organizers had hoped.

For an early-day game for a young team, coaches split the team - everyone gets ice time and lots of it, in a scrimmage that took place during Virden's minor hockey day. The opposing team was ravaged by the flu and couldn't make it.

However, there's lots more action yet.

Bantam AAA Cougars play at 2 p.m. and at 4 p.m. the Midget Yellowhead Chiefs and Cougars play a match.
Hockey fans can have their fill, with an Oil Caps game in the evening.
