Virden Royal Purple Report

Many donations, 50-year pins

Our Lodge has been busy handing out donations in the last few months.

Our annual donation of $150 was made to the Virden Music & Arts Festival and we donated $100 to Kid Sport to be used to assist someone in Virden sports.

We also made donations of $150 to each of the following organizations Virden Pioneer Home Museum, Arts Mosaic, Virden Costume Closet, Cancer Care Manitoba (Brandon), Youth for Christ, Virden Health Auxiliary, S.A.I.L., A.C.L., Virden Auditorium Board, Funshine Centre, Virden & Area Community Day Care Centre Inc..

A donation of $600 was made to the Manitoba Brain Injury Assoc. from the proceeds of selling 50/50 tickets at the Oil Caps games. A request has been made to our Lodge for assistance at the Brain Injury walk being held in Brandon on June 1, to which the Lodge agreed to help.

Several times a year we donate food items for the Virden Food Cupboard. We delivered Meals on Wheels in January and are now selling Mom’s Pantry Products during the month of April. If anyone is interested in ordering you can get in touch with any Royal Purple member.

Our Leadership Committee was busy with the Live Different presentation at Junior High School for which we put up the $600 to have them come to Virden. Always a worthwhile project and this year’s presentation was on Kindness Changes Everything.

Janice Simpson reported that 33 ladies have paid their memberships for the year and Sharon Sawyer reported for the Nominating Committee with the new slate of Officers for the coming year.

It has been a busy time handing out pins to worthy members. Some of our Lodge members travelled to Brandon to visit Merle Cole and presented her with her 40-year pin, Linda White was presented with her 45-year pin at our April meeting as well as Lyn Fefchak, Fran Bayliss, Evelyn Hayward and Betty Anderson receiving their 50-year pins. Congratulations Ladies.

Diane Ward has been a busy lady trying to keep up with those of our members who have been sick, had surgery or had a bereavement in their family.

Her Sunshine Committee hosted a luncheon at Boston Pizza to catch up to everyone.

Our Manitoba Royal Purple Association Annual Meeting is being held in Winnipeg on May 4 and some of our members will be attending.

Following our meetings, a time of visiting over refreshments is always enjoyed by all.
