Pepper spray ends confrontation at Oak Lake Beach
RCMP report

August 15 - RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision in the RM of Pipestone. There were no injuries.

August 15 - RCMP conducted a vehicle stop on Highway 2. The driver was disqualified from operating a motor vehicle and was charged. 

August 16 - RCMP responded to the Virden Hospital for a report of a possible fire. 

August 16 - RCMP responded to Sioux Valley for a report of an assault. It was learned that during the course of the assault, a weapon was used against the victim causing injuries. An adult male and adult female are now facing charges of aggravated assault in relation to this incident.  

August 16 - RCMP responded to a possible stabbing in Sioux Valley. An adult male is now facing criminal charges in relation to this incident.  

August 17 - RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Highway #1 east of Virden. The driver was found to be impaired by alcohol and is now facing Impaired Driving charges in relation to the incident.  

August 17 - RCMP conducted a traffic stop at Oak Lake Beach. While police were investigating the driver for Impaired Operation, a man exited the vehicle and confronted the officer. There was a brief altercation ending with some OC (pepper) spray. That man was arrested for obstructing a peace officer. The driver was arrested for impaired driving. Another male in the vehicle was breaching court-imposed release conditions. All three are facing criminal charges in relation to the incident.  

August 18 - RCMP conducted a traffic stop in Sioux Valley. The driver blew a "warning" on the roadside test and was issued a 72-hour driving suspension.  

August 18 -  RCMP attended a residence in Virden for a report of a disturbance. A male and female were located who were breaching their court-imposed release conditions. Both are facing criminal charges in relation to the incident.  

Rodeo weekend – Cpl. Mike Eady reports that rodeo weekend caused no issues for police other than “one scrap in the parking lot (at TOGP), pretty standard.”
