Dauphin to host 2020 Manitoba Summer Games

The city of Dauphin will be hosting the 2020 Manitoba Summer Games.

The announcement was made Wed. Jan. 24 at MacKenzie Middle School in Dauphin with dignitaries on hand: Jeff Hnatiuk, President of Sport Manitoba; Minister of Sport, Culture and Heritage Cathy Cox; Dauphin area dignitaries and students.

Dauphin previously held the Manitoba Summer Games in 2004.

The sports on the calendar for the 2020 Games include:

• Athletics: U15 
• Baseball: U14 [male only]
• Basketball: U16 [female & male divisions]
• Cycling: U15 female / U13 male
• Golf: U17 female / U15 male
• Sailing: U17
• Soccer: U13 female & male divisions
• Softball: U16 female only
• Swimming: U14 female / U15 male
• Volleyball: U14 female & male divisions
• Triathlon: U17

The Manitoba Games are the province's largest ongoing multi-sport program bringing together participants from across the province.

They’re held every two years and alternate between summer and winter sports events. Each Games involve upwards of 8,000 athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, and spectators.
