Kenton By Paulette Wiens Canada Day celebrations in Kenton began with a delicious breakfast hosted by the Kenton United Church at the Kenton Memorial Hall.

Virden Agricultural grounds were a hive of activity for two days this week as first, Lenore 4-H Beef Club, and then the combined beef clubs of Lenore and Pipestone - the 4-H Interclub - showed their cattle.

Welsh ponies and cobs put on a great show in Virden for fellow exhibitors, and for the audience in the grandstand. The 40th Annual Show of the Manitoba Welsh Pony & Cob Association was held at Virden Agricultural grounds on July 4 and 5.

The enthusiasm was tangible at the Virden Agricultural Grounds on Monday, July 6. Lenore 4-H Beef Club held their achievement day.

Evergreen Place by Irene Rowand Gerald and Debbie Newman of Kamloops BC visited Helen Lodder and John Newman of Virden. Phyllis Gompf attended the Virden Collegiate graduation on June 24 for her grandchildren Allan and Kattrina Gompf.

We held our first re-organizational meeting in October and had 26 members join the club. We voted in our new executive with Bailey Carefoot – President; Kate-lyne Nykoliation – Vice President; Amanda Scott – Secretary; and Tyler Scott – Treasurer.

Registered Welsh ponies will be on show in Virden’s agricultural grounds for two days next weekend. Last year would havebeen the 40th consecutive year, but the July 1 rainstorm washed out many events including the Welsh show in 2014.
