Travis Hagen (14T) takes the lead at one of the heats Saturday afternoon at the Estevan Motor Speedway.

The first race event this year at the Estevan Motor Speedway is in the books and some old favourites took the checkered flag.

Lampman’s Leevi Runge won the hobby stock race, Williston’s Travis Hagen won the modifieds, Weyburn’s Brendon Labatte won the street stock race and the slingshots were won by Ryder Raynard from Estevan.

Returning this year are the sport mods, a feature race which was won by Minot’s Robby Rosselli.

The hobby stocks feature race was a dusty mess when the race was called after multiple collisions and spinouts near turns three and four, and the flipping of Pete Honrud’s car, bringing out the red flag. Honrud waved to the crowd as he came out of his vehicle.

After that, the track was rewatered and there weren’t as many cautions.
