Police intercept drugs coming in from Ontario

Cocaine and dealer paraphernalia coming from Ontario, headed for Sandy Bay First Nation, is intercepted.

Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation: On April 29, shortly before 9:00 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with four occupants.

During the stop, officers formed the grounds and detained the occupants for a controlled drugs and substances act (CDSA) investigation.

Officers located suspected cocaine and crack cocaine in possession of the driver and other items associated with drug trafficking in the vehicle. Over 100 grams of suspected cocaine and crack cocaine were seized.

26-year-old Sicetus Akhinagba of Brampton, Ont. was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine. He was held in custody to appear in Portage La Prairie court on April 30, 2024.

The other occupants were released without charges.
