Commonwealth Games kick off today

If you’re missing your multi-sport fix following the close of the Paralympic and Olympic Winter Games, help is on the way from the Commonwealth.

If you’re missing your multi-sport fix following the close of the Paralympic and Olympic Winter Games, help is on the way from the Commonwealth.

Australia’s Gold Coast will host the Commonwealth Games starting today and running until Sunday, April 15.

Several North Shore athletes will be on the scene going for gold, including Hannah Haughn, Rachel Donohoe, Steph Norlander and Karli Johansen on the women’s field hockey team and Taylor Curran on the men’s squad.

In men’s sevens rugby Harry Jones will be taking his usual spot with the national team as they hunt for gold in a competitive tournament that will include powerhouse squads such as Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and England.

North Vancouver’s Scott Morgan, an Olympian in 2016, will be back on the mat looking to repeat his strong showing at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, where he won four medals, including two golds.

Canadians will be able to catch all the action at Gold Coast by visiting DAZN.com, a live sports streaming service and the exclusive home for live coverage of the Canadian team at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
