Impairment has consequences

During the week of July 18 to July 24, the Westman RCMP dealt with 60 police occurrences.

July 18 – RCMP located a 29-year-old male breaching his no contact order while trying to serve him a document. He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Virden detachment. He was released by the Courts via a release order with a future Court date.

July 19 – Virden for a report of an intoxicated male losing consciousness. He refused medical attention from EMS, so he was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons and Detentions ACT and transported to the hospital. Once at the hospital, the intoxicated male was medically cleared by the doctor and transported to the Virden detachment as he was too intoxicated to care for himself. He was released when sober.

July 19 – Oak Lake for a report of a potential break and enter to an abandoned residence. The residence had a broken window however it’s currently unknown if anyone entered, or if any items were taken. The investigation is ongoing.

July 19 –United Church in Oak Lake for a report of a broken window. It did not appear that entry was gained, no items were stolen. The investigation is ongoing.

July 21 – Sioux Valley for a report of a domestic assault. Subsequent to investigation, a 50-year-old male was arrested for assault. He was released with a future Court date on the condition that he not communicate or have any contact with the victim.

July 23 – Sioux Valley for a report of a domestic assault. The 36-year-old male suspect departed the residence prior to police arrival. A warrant for his arrest is being sought.

July 24 – While conducting patrols in Reston, a 22-year-old male was observed to give police the middle finger multiple times and made several obscene gestures toward his genitals. He was also observed to have an open beer in his hand. When the male was notified that consuming alcohol in a public place was illegal, he tried to walk away so he was subsequently arrested under the Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control ACT. He was issued a fine of $672 and subsequently released from custody.

July 24 – Pierson for a report of a disturbance. Upon police arrival, a male was located on the street with no pants on. It was ultimately determined that a fight had occurred between two adult males. They were separated for the evening; no charges are being sought.

July 24 – Virden for a report of a suspicious male. It was reported that the male tried to open the door to a residence explaining that someone was after him. Upon the male being located, it was determined that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody and released by the Courts via a release order the following day.

Westman RCMP also responded to seven false alarms, and two traffic collisions. Seven traffic enforcement actions were undertaken during this reporting period.
