Kennedy Langevin, daughter of Jodi and Doyle Langevin, has been in a Winnipeg hospital since an accident on July 2. Kennedy, a VCI student, suffered a severe head trauma after a fall from her horse.

She was airlifted to Health Sciences Centre where her parents have been at her side.

To help ease the financial burden for the Langevin family, to offset the expenses they will incur during Kennedy’s hospitalization at HSC in Winnipeg, a family friend Kylee Nykoliation opened a GoFundMe account.

Kennedy’s mum Jodi says, “The support has been so very much appreciated. We are eternally grateful.” She is cautiously optimistic and says her daughter is holding her own.

A tracheostomy was performed on Kennedy last Sunday to provide breathing assistance from a ventilator.

“Doctors remain positive that she will wake up, it’s just going to take time. ‘It’s not a race, it’s a marathon.’” Says Jodi, echoing wisdom from the medical staff. “Her care has been absolutely phenomenal.”

In a recent report via Facebook, Jodi says that doctors are removing the ventilator support for short periods, four hours at a time, as much as is deemed possible.

Jodi has recently moved to Ronald MacDonald House, which, while a blessing, was also a tough day for her as she deals with what appears to be a long road ahead for her teen daughter.

“I think reality set in, that this will be home for awhile. I miss home, boys, dogs, horses.  I miss my job.”

As of Wednesday, July 20, $14,470 has been raised toward the $15,000 GoFundMe goal to ease the financial pressure on her family while they support Kennedy in her fight for her future wellness.
