Morris/Emerson RCMP respond to vehicle-pedestrian collision

An accident went from bad to tragic, north of Emmerson, Manitoba.

On June 18, at 3:05 a.m., officers from Morris/Emerson RCMP responded to a report of a male having been struck by a vehicle on Provincial Road 200, located near Road 7N, in the RM of Emerson Franklin. Officers, along with EMS, arrived on scene and located a 25-year-old male, from the RM of Emerson-Franklin, who was pronounced deceased. Officers spoke with the two male occupants (26, 25) of the vehicle. It was learned that the vehicle, initially being driven by the deceased, had hit the ditch and became stuck. The deceased had exited the vehicle and was attempting to push the vehicle out when it suddenly reversed and struck him.

The two occupants then immediately called 911, loaded up the victim, and drove to the nearest intersection where they awaited the arrival of RCMP and EMS. The two other occupants of the vehicle were not physically injured. Morris / Emerson RCMP continue to investigate.
