On April 28, 2018, at approximately 10:35 pm, Nelson House RCMP received a report of three children being struck on Provincial Road 620, approximately two kilometres north of Nelson House.

The three male children, a 13-year-old and two 11-year-olds, were pronounced deceased on scene.‎ All were from Nelson House.

Investigators believe a vehicle, being driven by a 27-year-old male from Nelson House with four passengers, was travelling southbound when it struck the children. Two of the children were walking and one was riding a bike on the road at the time of the collision.

The driver exited his vehicle and fled from the scene on foot.

At approximately 12:00 am, the driver of the vehicle walked to the Nelson House RCMP detachment and turned himself in to police.

Alcohol has been determined to be a factor in this collision and multiple charges are pending against the driver.

A RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

Sgt. Manaigre will be available for on-camera interviews at RCMP Headquarters in Winnipeg between 2 and 3 pm.
