After a successful day of meetings on June 06 in the Legislative building: reps from the Rural Municipalities of Pipestone, Melita, Souris/Glenwood, Grassland, Killarney/Turtle Mountain, North Cypress Langford, Sifton and Town of Virden.

At the June 23 Association of Manitoba Municipalities (AMM) June district meetings in Oak Lake, Scott Phillips will be running to reclaim his seat for one of the two Western Director spots.

“I’m a long-time advocate of team work, transparency, having a regional approach on many issues, staying current and educated on regional and provincial matters, being respectful and holding people accountable,” says Phillips. The RM of Sifton councillor says this attitude and approach is the key to success when lobbying the government of the day on key issues.

“I’ve been a part of several delegations which has made positive changes in Westman, with some exciting new announcements coming soon,” he says adding, “It’s an honour to be included with your peers and being recognized by the Province for your hard work and making change.”

A Deleau businessman, Phillips enjoys networking. “I’ve always had an open-door policy with the ratepayers, been accessible to municipal officials from across the province, fortunate to have a great relationship with several MLA’s, ministers of various departments and their staff.”

Keen to help the Western District move forward on issues of importance he says, “There is no better level of government than your grassroots municipal government.”
