During this week Westman RCMP received a total of 66 calls for service. Of the 66, 30 were traffic related, three suspicious person/ vehicle/ property, five assaults, two breach of the peace, and three break and enters.
On Feb. 12, RCMP received a report that a vehicle was vandalized during the night on 7th Ave. S. in Virden. The investigation continues.
On Feb. 13, RCMP responded to a call for service in Sioux Valley Dakota Nation (SVDN) where an assault was taking place. Members arrived on scene and a male was arrested for assault with a weapon and assault while choking, suffocating or strangling. He was released and will appear before the court in April.
During a routine traffic patrol conducted in SVDN, police observed a speeding vehicle travelling at 91km/hr in a 60km/hr zone. RCMP conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle and the driver was issued a traffic office notice which carries a fine of $456.
During a routine traffic patrol conducted in the RM Sifton, police observed a speeding vehicle travelling at 132km/hr in a 100km/hr zone. RCMP conducted a traffic stop and the driver was issued a traffic office notice which carries a fine of $469.
During a routine traffic patrol being conducted in RM Wallace-Woodworth, police observed a speeding vehicle travelling at 142km/hr in a 100km/hr zone. RCMP conducted a traffic stop and the driver was issued a traffic office notice which carries a fine of $599.
