Thieves steal power tools in Penner Lumber break-in

Thieves hit communities in Westman, police call for public assistance.

Penner Lumber store on First Street in Kola, Man. was broken into during the early hours of Wednesday morning, April 20. Virden RCMP report that early on April 20, they responded to multiple calls of break and enter and theft in the towns of Kola, Pierson, and in Virden.

When Penner Lumber store owner Adam Bajus, manager Paul Archambault and staff arrived to open up the Kola business on Wednesday morning they were met with shattered glass. The front door had been smashed where the thief, or thieves, accessed the building.

Bajus said power tools were the apparent target.

Kola is located near three communities: 25 minutes west of Virden, 17 minutes southeast of Elkhorn, and across the Saskatchewan border, Maryfield is 10 minutes away.

Investigators believe the same suspects have hit several different communities. It was determined similar incidents had occurred in the past two days in Brandon, and in Maryfield, Sask.

The investigation is currently ongoing and police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying potential suspects related to these offences.
