Two vehicles collide on Highway 10 near Brandon

A collision on June 27, Tuesday in the late afternoon, claims two lives, injures another.

On June 27, at 5:30 p.m., Souris RCMP responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 10, located approximately five kilometers north of Highway 1, in the RM of Elton. Investigators have determined that a pickup truck with two occupants was travelling southbound when it veered into the northbound lane on Highway 10, colliding head-on with a semi truck.

The two occupants in the pickup truck, a man, 38, and a 62-year-old man, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi truck, a 39-year-old man from Rivers, was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both vehicles were consumed by fire. Souris RCMP, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate.
