During the week of October 21 to 28, 2019 the Westman RCMP dealt with 59 police activities.
October 21 - RCMP responded to a fire at a residence in Oak Lake Beach. In cooperation with the Office of the Fire Commissioner, the fire was deemed to be electrical.
October 23 - RCMP received a call to a local business near Highway 1 in Virden that a male and female were fighting. Police attended and witnessed a 32-year-old man from Vancouver pushing a female. He was arrested for assault and held in custody.
October 24 - RCMP responded to a complaint of a break and enter in Virden. RCMP responded and conducted an investigation which has identified a suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
October 25 - RCMP responded to a call in Sioux Valley involving an assault with a weapon. A 15-year-old used bear mace to spray two 17 year olds. All parties were known to each other and declined to proceed with charges.
October 27 - RCMP conducted a vehicle stop on Highways 1 and 83. The driver was found to be suspended from driving and breaching a curfew condition. The driver was arrested and will be appearing in court at a later date.
October 28 - RCMP received a call that a vehicle had been vandalized on 7th Avenue in Virden.
October 29 - RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a train and semi-truck near Oak Lake. The semi was travelling North when it crossed an uncontrolled railway crossing and was struck by a train travelling West. The driver of the semi was taken to the hospital and sustained non-life threatening injuries. The collision is still under investigation in cooperation with CP Police.
