YOUR COMMUNITY - Princess Lodge and Miniota news

The comings and goings in Princess Lodge; Miniota / Isabella happenings include a trip to the UK

Princess Lodge By Janice Simpson

Apr. 1, Lori and Ron Jones from Regina visited Barry and Shirley Nolan. Apr. 3 Louise Leask was a supper guest with Joyce Heaman. SAIL put on a dinner on Apr. 5 - turkey with all the trimmings. Elizabeth Archambault from Kola entertained us with beautiful violin music. There were 60 guests, and the room was full.

The Oil Caps won over OCN hockey team so now they play Portage. Go Caps Go!

I, Janice, attended the funeral for Olive McLenehan in Lenore Community Church on Apr. 8. I was at Wayne and Lori Stewart’s for a lovely Easter supper.

Miniota By Linda Clark

Our Miniota community extends deepest sympathy to Greg Cloake on the death of his wife Marge, and to their family Joanne, Carla and Sandra on the loss of their mother and grandmother.  Marge was a staunch Beulah community supporter all her life and I don't think one could attend a Beulah event and not see Marge working in the kitchen.  Our thoughts are with the Cloake family.

Stan and Bonnie Bryant, our Miniota snowbirds, arrived home from Apache Junction, AZ on April 5, where they spent the winter months in much warmer conditions. Time to catch up with family and friends, they enjoyed an Easter celebration with Ron and Susanne Burdett, and then to sons Sean and to Dean's for family meals and visits and to enjoy their four great grandchildren. Welcome home.

Linda's UK Travels

Linda Clark travelled to Ottawa to begin a wonderful trip of a lifetime, first spending time with Kevin and Julie Halipchuk and grandchildren Aidan, Reese and Carley. Ruth Thomas of Birtle joined us at Ottawa for a night and then flew with us to London UK where Ruth was met by her family and then Julie and I were off to see the sights of England.

Travelling by plane, train and automobile we managed a lot in a few days taking in the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, a ride on the London Eye to see the city from above, Westminster Cathedral and Big Ben, London Bridge, Tower Bridge, shopping at Harrods (maybe some sightseeing there as well), Hyde Park, Trafalgar Square, the Houses of Parliament and the Canadian Embassy, the theatre for an evening, a few pubs to check out their English cuisine, drinks and more.

By bus we visited Windsor Castle, the Stonehenge and the city of Bath where we attended a beautiful abbey for their Maundy Thursday service with a wonderful choir, the Roman baths, their market area and more architecture.

Travelling by train we then moved to Brympton House at Yeovil to attend the wedding of Sarah Harrison and Nicholas Clark Bryan. What a wonderful celebration. … For further wedding details see the Isabella news. To end my epic adventure, as Julie put it, back to Ottawa for some more family time.

I am going to end this weeks' news with words my daughter Julie wrote on one of her Facebook posts to accompany some of our adventures. 'Because life is short, and the world is wide.'  I feel so blessed to have shared this epic adventure with Julie and I want to offer belated Easter greetings to all our readers.  I hope everyone's weekend was filled with family and good food - making more memories. -Linda

Isabella News

David Irwin and Derry Ashcroft flew across the 'pond' to London, UK for some sightseeing and to attend the wedding of Sarah Harrison (daughter of Marcie Harrison and Cal Harrison) to Nicholas Clark Bryan. What a beautiful bride Sarah was in a stunning gown and the groom, Nick, in his military dress uniform.

The wedding was held at Brympton House, Yeovil, a 600-year-old estate, a venue complete with rooms for the guests, a ballroom for the reception, St. Andrew's church on the grounds for the ceremony, the large old farmhouse kitchen for breakfasts, a beautiful terrace and lawns for a barbecue Friday evening for guests (also affording a stroll with flowers, green grass and foliage starting on the trees), and rooms for dancing.

What a wonderful weekend it was to be a part of Sarah's special day! Dave did us proud wearing a kilt for this most special occasion. Our Isabella contingent for the weekend included Dave, Derry, Cal and Cam Harrison, Linda Clark and Julie Clark-Halipchuk.
