Letter: Incident not 'friendly fire'

Dear editor,

I do not like the use of the term, "a friendly fire incident". (Body of Sgt Doiron to be repatriated at CFB Trenton ceremony, Brandon Sun,10 Mar.)

The name is wrong or inaccurate for the recent event that took the life of a Canadian serviceman and also wounded fellow soldiers.

It's a despicable misnomer that should not be tolerated.

Imagine the grief of families at this time, who are bewildered by such a term, as they come to grips of their loss and concerns for those wounded.

Such a shooting tragedy is never anticipated or expected from an ally, and it certainly was not friendly in it's delivery.

A Veteran.
