Just read the article by Heather Reimer, November 9, 2017 about the lack of snow clearing of streets and sidewalks in Virden.
Yes, the town is very slow in getting their snow clearing equipment out. There are times I actually avoid going there to shop for that very reason and rather go the extra miles into Brandon.
It is a lot more convenient for a lot of seniors to go to Virden to shop and for medical reasons, but I wonder how many avoid it in winter as well. Dollars the businesses are losing.
I had heard Virden had opted out of the RM, rather be on their own, is that why the town is so reluctant to spend money on snow clearing?
The conditions of the streets and sidewalks certainly are not encouraging for customers to come to Virden. LOST DOLLARS!
I have heard a lot of complaints from people outside of Virden. Come on Mayor Jeff and councillors, open your ears and eyes.
