Virden Pioneer Home Museum for Donor’s Choice

The Virden Donor’s Choice means a lot to our Community as a whole. The dedication of the volunteers who do the canvassing and the generosity of the residents in Virden are appreciated very much.

The Virden Pioneer Home Museum Board appreciates very much the financial support afforded to our Museum through the Donor’s Choice canvass. All of the funds that we receive through Virden Donor’s Choice stay right here in Virden and are used by the board as we continue to update and improve our museum which is a “Designated Heritage Building”. We are very proud of our local museum and the irreplaceable artifacts that have been donated by families from our local community and the surrounding municipalities.

The Donor’s Choice amounts that we received will be put to good use as we are working on renovating Annex #1 and Annex #2 and then moving upstairs and replacing old worn floor coverings and hope to repair and refinish the original wooden floors if possible – otherwise we will have to find some era appropriate floor coverings for the museum. Next will be the flooring in the kitchen. Renovations in an older building usually are very time consuming and costly but a necessity.

Our Board continues to provide summer employment for three or four students each summer where they can gain experience, earn income for their tuition fees and prepare themselves for entering the workforce after their education choices. We hope to also be able to create a new position of Curator-Student Supervisor for this coming spring as well.

The Donor’s Choice program means a lot to our museum and helps in allowing us to bring projects to fruition. We appreciate the Virden Donor’s Board members and your commitment to our community.

Sincerely,

Virden Pioneer Home Museum Board
