Seven Stones to Stand or Fall by Diana Gabaldon: A collection of short fiction including two never-before-published novels which extend the story of Outlander in new directions.

The Nearness of You by Dorothy Garlock: October, 1952. Lily dreams about New York City and makes plans to run away from her overly protected life in Hooper’s Crossing, New York. She and her best friend Jane quietly pack their suitcases and wait for the right time. However, Lily gets cold feet and gets Jane to stop her vehicle to let her out. She returns to her home and her father, the extremely busy mayor. Unknown to them, danger lurks as two thieves who plan to rob the bank are in town, knowing that the festival will bring in plenty of money. One of them bumps into Lily on the street, introducing himself with a false name. When he cases the bank to see what type of safe they secure the money in, he performs a sleight of hand trick rolling a silver dollar over his hand. He thinks he won’t be remembered. A photographer and a writer from Life magazine arrive in town to record the events and happenings of the festival as a human interest story.

Murder Games, a thriller by James Patterson & Howard Roughan: Dr. Dylan Reinhard wrote the book on criminal behaviour but when a copy of his book is found at a crime scene, with a threatening message from the suspect, it looks like someone has been taking notes. Another clue, a playing card, is also left at the scene as before and the headlines in New York are about the “Dealer”.

The Duchess by Danielle Steel: Nineteenth century England where a high born young woman is forced out into the world and begins her journey of survival, sensuality, and long sought justice. Angelique has lost her mother and when her father, the Duke of Westerfield, passes on, her half-brothers cruelly turn her out, even denying her existence. Travelling to Paris with the envelope of money her father pressed upon her, at eighteen years of age she rescues a young woman fleeing her situation and sees a possibility that may serve them both.
