The Christmas Tool Bag

I have to admit, there is a place for pink tools. I used to scorn (privately), the pinking of tools because let’s face it, a hammer is a hammer is a hammer. Right? Well, actually a hammer is a missing item most of the time.

Well, actually a hammer is a missing item most of the time. At least, until I no longer need it. Then the hammer shows itself. Would a pink hammer be more cooperative? I am beginning to think so.

In fact, there might be a good reason for pink tools in general.

If I put my pink cordless drill in its designated place, a charging station in the laundry room, it should always be there when I need it for some little thing. Right?

I am not planning to use the pink drill for serious reno that we are considering for the bathroom in 2018. However, when I come home from a shopping spree and have a luxurious new coated wire shelf to put up, I can accomplish that if I could just get my hands on the cordless drill. And, if it was charged up.

Fantasizing ... after a little pre-drilling, I could switch tips to a Robertson or a Phillips screwdriver and with my cordless, using the screw provided with the shelf purchase, I could quickly have a shelf – a way to organize the cleaning products.

All this I could do IF I had a pink cordless drill; because, the man of the house wouldn’t use my pink drill. It wouldn’t be over at the neighbour’s or at the church or in the truck. It would be right where I left it.

So, right now, an 18-volt Ni-Cad battery drill, with a battery and charger, a key-less chuck, and 21 torque settings sounds like the next shopping spree item. With the 56-piece drill and driver bits set and a pink case, that is quite a hoist for Santa – and I need it before Christmas.

Beyond the colour which identifies the tools as belonging to the woman of the house, I am looking for something light and really user friendly.

Yes, there’s a place for light-weight tools. They would make good Christmas gifts for a variety of reasons, if you can wait until Christmas.

In the interest of having a fun marriage and keeping the peace, pink tools should maybe be a stocking stuffer in addition to Christmas roses, trendy jewelry and a gift certificate for a spa treatment.
