During the week of Dec. 30 to Jan. 6 the Westman RCMP dealt with 63 police activities.

 

Dec. 30 – Virden RCMP were called to a report of an attempted theft of vehicle at a business in Virden. Entry was made to a vehicle and the ignition was punched, however the vehicle was unable to be stolen. The investigation is continuing.

 

Dec. 31 – Virden RCMP responded to a report of a missing youth in Sioux Valley who had run away from her caregivers. The youth was safely located on Jan. 4 by members of the Brandon Police Service.

Jan. 1 – Virden RCMP responded to Sioux Valley for a report that windows were smashed out of a residence. A suspect has been identified and the investigation is continuing.

Jan. 3 - Virden RCMP were dispatched to Sioux Valley for a report of assault. As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old male was arrested and charged for assaulting his partner.

Jan. 6 - Virden RCMP responded to a report of a fraud. The victim advised that she had forwarded items through Canada Post after an online agreement was made to purchase, however no money was exchanged. The parcel was able to be stopped from being delivered. RCMP would like to remind people to be careful when conducting online shopping, especially through private parties.

Jan. 6 - Virden RCMP responded to a disturbance in Sioux Valley. Upon arrival, it was determined that a highly intoxicated 52-year-old male had overstayed his welcome and was unable to care for himself.  Unfortunately, alternate lodgings were unable to be located, and for his own safety, he was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and bunked at the RCMP detachment for the evening to be released with no charges once sober.

Jan. 6 - While on patrol, members of the Virden RCMP came upon a vehicle that had struck a deer. The deer was removed from the roadway and the vehicle involved was inspected to ensure it was able to be driven before departing.

During this week, there was also 22 traffic enforcement actions taken.
