For the month of August at Arts Mosaic in Virden, married couple Myrna and Moe Gray are displaying their work.

The couple’s daughter, Charlene Gowler, designed the display of the art for Myrna and Moe. A reception for the artists will be held Aug. 28 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Moe has been crafting wooden bowls for over ten years. His love for his work is evident in the beauty of his finished product. Moe has a variety of 86 handcrafted bowls on display and for sale at Arts Mosaic.

Myrna has been painting for over ten years. She says she doesn’t paint on demand, she paints when the mood strikes her.

Myrna also does pencil sketching, pointalism, wax portraits, and instant coffee painting. The instant coffee painting has a monochrome finish. She says coffee painting is sort of like water colour painting. As she paints with the coffee, she adds more coffee to get darker colour for her painting.

Myrna uses coloured melted wax for her wax portraits. She applies it with a hot iron, and the finished painting is a very colourful, 3d effect.

Animal portraits are another passion of Myrna’s. The first animal portrait she ever did was of a cougar, and the life-like painting is sure to catch eyes at the Arts Mosaic display.
