On the cold winter morning of December fourth, the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train pulled into town.

The train is touring for its 18th year in an effort to raise money, food and awareness for local food banks and food shelves.

Inside the train were musical artists Dallas Smith, and Odds who have been performing a concert at each stop on the Holiday Train’s journey.
After the opening of the concert, the Holiday Train presented the Virden Area Food Cupboard with a cheque for $2500.

Alongside the Holiday Train this year has been the Tim Horton’s truck, providing free coffee and hot chocolate for all who came to be a part of the Christmas festivities.

Everything was routine for the Holiday Train’s stop in Virden, except one thing. It was Dallas Smith’s birthday. The Odd’s led the crowd in the classic song wishing Smith a happy birthday.
