A “Sculpt & Sip” was held Aug. 11 at Gopher Creek Coffee Co. in Virden, led by Oak Lake paverpol sculpture artist Karyn Kowal. Over ten people attended, spending the evening creating their own sculptures.

Paverpol sculpting consists of covering sculpted wire with tinfoil. The tinfoil body is wrapped with cut strips of cotton t-shirts which have been dipped in liquid paverpol.

The artist can then create the sculpture’s clothing. Each person who makes a sculpture can be as creative as they want when designing the clothing for their sculpture.

After the sculpture has dried enough, it is painted with acrylic paint. Once the sculpture is painted, it is left overnight to completely dry.

Kowal also paints with acrylics and oil. Recently, she has been combining her canvass paintings with paverpol. The result is a framed painting with paverpol sculpting attached.

Kowal was certified in 2016 as a paverpol instructor. She takes bookings for two-hour “Sculpt & Sip” classes in people’s homes. There are a variety of paverpol products, and classes ranging from introductory to advanced levels. The different classes teach how to use different products.

Kowal can be reached at her “Go Figure Paverpol Designs” business at [email protected].
