News from the Region

Sunrise Credit Union employees collected $500 worth of toonies from their Jeans Day fundraiser and donated it to the Christmas Cheer Board on Dec. 22. Accepting the cheque for the Cheer Board is Joanne Whyte.

Princess Lodge Karen Naumiuk and her daughter Alisha Gillies from Winnipeg were pre-Christmas visitors with Marge Tapp. Jim and Margaret Anne Heaman and Joyce Braybrook were recent visitors with Joyce Heaman.

Jack Ready, a former newspaper man in Virden, Oak Lake and then with the Brandon Sun is front and centre in a five-generation photograph. Jack Ready was a typesetter and occasionally a photographer and reporter too.
