A Poem by Elkhorn's Grade 2 / 3 class

Colette Benko is 16 years old and a Grade 12 student at St. Mary’s High School in Calgary. Her parents are Arron and Janice, her grandparents are Ken and Olive Hutchison of Virden, longtime friends of Morris and I.

This is Superman - a big beautiful boy that needs his own superfamily. He does not like other animals, however he loves kids and will do anything for his people.

A flock of pelicans along Hwy #24 on Sept. 17. These birds are on their way to California and the Gulf of Mexico, where they winter. The American white pelican is long-lived with some birds reaching 26 years, but the average age is 10 to 15 years.

Cool damp weather did not detour a large amount of people from attending the West-Man Nursing Home fundraiser barbecue, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the facilities yard on Sept. 14.
