Blake Sidoni has made his presence felt since being traded to the Virden Oil Capitals in late October. With the 20-year-old forward from Trail, B.C. in the lineup, the Manitoba Junior Hockey League squad has gone 10-3.

The Calgary Stampeders took home the championship, but Virden’s Brandon Martens was also a winner on Grey Cup weekend.

The VCI Volleyball teams are all wrapping up their seasons. The Varsity Girls competed in a wildcard match in MacGregor and came out with a win, allowing them to qualify for provincials this weekend.

The Virden Oil Capitals had a strong week as they battled through a schedule that saw them play four games in five days. During that stretch, the team won two games and lost the other two. On the season, the Oil Capitals are 11-11-1-4.

Last week was a good one for Josh Belcher and the Virden Oil Capitals. The second-year forward from Rapid City racked up three goals and six points in three games. His efforts helped the Oil Capitals win all three of their contests.
